At the start of your unforgettable 7-day Marrakech desert tour, one of our local drivers will welcome you at Marrakech Menara Airport and transfer you comfortably to your hotel or riad.

Day 2: Marrakech – Tizi n’ Tichka – Ait Ben Haddou – Ouarzazate – Dades Valley

After a healthy breakfast, you will be picked up from your hotel at around 8:30 a.m. to begin your Marrakech desert tour. Travel across the Tizi n’Tichka Pass (2,260 m), enjoying spectacular views of the High Atlas Mountains and authentic Berber villages along the way, with several stops for photos.

Continue to the Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou, a fortified village and UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1986. This iconic site has served as the backdrop for many famous films, including Gladiator, Obelix, The Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile, and Sahara. Enjoy free time for lunch at a local restaurant.

The journey then continues to Ouarzazate, where you will visit the Atlas Film Studios—considered the largest film studios in Morocco and the historic Taourirt Kasbah. Afterward, drive through the lush palm groves of Skoura and the Rose Valley, famous for its annual rose festival and locally made cosmetic products in May. Passing through the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs, you will see numerous centuries-old adobe fortresses before arriving in the Dades Valley in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay will be at a hotel or riad overlooking the valley.

Day 3 : Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga desert and camel trekking

After breakfast at your hotel in the Dades Valley, your Morocco desert journey continues toward the spectacular Todra Gorge. Along the way, you will pass through traditional Berber villages scattered across the landscape and travel via Tinghir. Stop to admire the lush Todra Valley, lined with palm trees, before reaching the impressive Todra Gorge.

Todra Gorge is one of Morocco’s most popular rock-climbing destinations. Here, enjoy a short walk through the dramatic grey and pink canyon walls, rising up to 300 meters high. Take time to appreciate the unique scenery and capture memorable photos.

Afterward, continue toward Tinjdad and Touroug, where you will have free time for lunch at a local restaurant. The journey then leads to Erfoud, known as the gateway to the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet.

In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga, home to the majestic Erg Chebbi dunes. From here, set off on a camel trek of approximately one and a half hours to reach your nomadic Berber desert camp. During the ride, pause in the heart of the dunes to watch the sunset, try sandboarding if you wish, take photos, and soak in the magical desert atmosphere.

After sunset, continue to the camp, where you will be welcomed with a glass of mint tea. Enjoy a traditional dinner, a campfire gathering with Berber music and drumming, and an unforgettable overnight stay in your Merzouga desert camp under the stars.

Day 4 : Merzouga sightseeing and 4×4 tour around Erg Chebbi dunes

Today, we recommend waking up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise near the desert camp. After enjoying this magical moment, have breakfast and a refreshing shower at the camp. You will then return to the starting point either by camel or, if you prefer, by a 4WD vehicle.

Meet your driver and begin a 4×4 excursion around Merzouga to explore the fascinating sites surrounding the Erg Chebbi dunes. Start with a visit to the Hassi Labied oasis, where you will see traditional irrigation canals and agricultural fields. Continue south to the seasonal Srij Lake, if water is present, a peaceful spot that attracts wildlife when full.

Next, head to Khamlia village to experience the unique rhythms of Gnawa music, performed by descendants of Sub-Saharan Africans who settled in the region generations ago. The journey then continues to the M’ifis mines, an area known for its minerals and fossils, highlighting another side of the Merzouga desert beyond tourism.

During the excursion, you will also visit a nomadic Berber family still living in traditional tents deep in the Sahara. Share a glass of mint tea with them and learn about their daily life in the desert. Along the way, enjoy several panoramic stops to admire the scenery and take photos. After lunch at a local restaurant, return to the village. The day ends with dinner and an overnight stay at a hotel overlooking the golden dunes of Merzouga.

Day 5 : Merzouga – Rissani – Nkoub – Draa Valley – Agdez – Ouarzazate

The next day, after a hearty breakfast at the hotel, you will meet your driver and begin the journey toward Ouarzazate. On the way, stop in Rissani to explore its traditional weekly market, if your visit coincides with market days (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday). Continue through the arid pre-desert landscape, dotted with characteristic acacia trees typical of the region.

As you approach the Draa Valley, pause to admire the scenic views of Morocco’s longest river, which gives the valley its name. Your 7-day Marrakech desert tour continues as you cross the Anti-Atlas Mountains, with free time for lunch along the route. In the afternoon, proceed to Ouarzazate, arriving in the late afternoon or evening. Enjoy dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.
