Tour Overview :

This 3-day, 2-night trip offers the chance to explore some of Morocco’s most stunning landscapes in a short time.

The journey begins in Fes, the cultural heart of Morocco, before heading to Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco, and the nearby cedar forests. We make a stop in Midelt for lunch, then continue through the breathtaking Ziz Valley.

Next, you will arrive at the Sahara Desert of Merzouga, where you can ride camels, spend a night in a desert camp, and experience the magical sunset and sunrise over the dunes. You will also have the opportunity to explore the desert by 4×4, visit the traditional market in Rissani, and stop in Erfoud, a town famous for fossils.

Finally, the tour concludes with the return journey to Fes, marking the end of your 3-day desert adventure.

Tour Plan :

1st Day: Fes – Ifrane – Cedars forest- Midelt – Ziz valley – Merzouga Sahara

The 3-day Sahara Desert tour begins with an early pick-up from the airport or your accommodation in Fes. We then drive south through Imouzzer to Ifrane, known for its cool temperatures, snow, and alpine-style houses—earning it the nickname the Switzerland of Morocco.

Next, we visit the cedar forests, home to the Barbary macaques. Feel free to feed these playful monkeys while exploring the forest. We then continue to Midelt for lunch before heading toward the Sahara Desert, passing through the Tizi-n-Tilghmt Pass and along the scenic Ziz River.

In the afternoon, we arrive at the Merzouga dunes. Here, you will switch to camel rides and cross the sandy desert. A stop is made atop a high dune to watch the magical sunset. Afterward, we continue to a luxury desert camp, where you can enjoy Berber drumming music and dance around the campfire beneath a starlit desert sky. Dinner and overnight are at the camp.

2nd Day : Explore Merzouga region – Nomads – Khamlia – Merzouga lake – Erg Chebbi – Palm Grove


Waking up early in the morning is a must to enjoy the stunning sunrise in the heart of the desert. After some free time for breakfast, you will return by camel to Merzouga, where the driver will be waiting. The day is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region, which is full of remarkable sites, including sand dunes, a wild lake, mines, fossil areas, and lush oases—perfect for outdoor activities.

The day begins with an off-road drive to visit an ancient eyeliner mine. Next, we visit nomadic families in their handmade woven tents, where you can learn about their lifestyle while enjoying traditional Berber tea. Our journey continues to Khamlia village, where you will experience Gnaoua music and dance performances. The villagers here have roots in sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger.

Afterward, there is free time for lunch at a local restaurant. The afternoon includes a stroll through a palm grove, followed by a short drive to visit the wild lake of Merzouga, also known as Flamingo Lake. Dinner and overnight are at a hotel.

3rd Day : Merzouga – Rissani – Erfoud – Ziz valley – Ifrane – Fes

After some free time for breakfast, we leave the desert and head to Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet. Rissani remains an important trading center, with a lively souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. After exploring the souk, we continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble.

Next, we drive along the Ziz River, stopping to enjoy a panoramic view of the Ziz Valley. The journey continues through the cedar forests and Ifrane before returning to Fes. Finally, you will be dropped off at the airport or your accommodation, marking the end of the 3-day Sahara Desert tour.
