Day 1: Casablanca ⇢ Arrival and city tour

 

Your 9-day Moroccan adventure begins upon arrival in Casablanca, where our team will welcome you. Start the day with a city tour, visiting the Hassan II Mosque, one of the largest and most impressive mosques in the world. Explore the lively streets of Casablanca, take in the vibrant atmosphere, and enjoy a taste of local cuisine. In the evening, relax at your comfortable accommodation and prepare for the journey ahead.

Day 2: Casablanca ⇢ Rabat ⇢ Chefchaouen

 

On day two, we will travel to Rabat, the capital of Morocco. Explore its historical sites and architectural highlights, including the impressive Hassan Tower and the charming Kasbah of the Udayas. Afterward, we continue to Chefchaouen, famously known as the “Blue City” for its striking blue-painted streets and buildings. Immerse yourself in the town’s unique atmosphere and enjoy the warm hospitality of the locals.

Day 3: Full day to explore Chefchaouen

 

Today is a full day to explore Chefchaouen at your own pace. Known for its stunning blue-painted streets, the city offers a truly enchanting atmosphere. Wander through the narrow alleys of the old town, browse the lively markets, or relax at one of the many cafes and restaurants serving delicious Moroccan cuisine.

Your day in Chefchaouen will be filled with breathtaking scenery, cultural experiences, and unforgettable moments. Be sure to bring your camera to capture the beauty of this charming city.

Day 4: Chefchaouen ⇢ Volubilis ⇢ Meknes ⇢ Fes

 

After breakfast at your riad, the day begins with a scenic drive through the charming villages of the Rif Mountains. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the Moroccan countryside and picturesque landscapes. Our first stop is Volubilis, an ancient Roman city renowned for its well-preserved mosaics and impressive public buildings dating back to the 3rd century. Explore the ruins and step back in time to discover the lives of the Romans who once lived here.

Next, we travel to Meknes, a city that served as Morocco’s capital in the 17th century. After lunch, explore the medina, the historic old town surrounded by protective walls. Visit the famous Bab el Mansour gate, admired for its intricate designs and carvings, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail, a sacred site dedicated to the legendary sultan.

After a day of history and exploration, we continue to Fes, where you will spend the night in a beautiful riad. Relax and unwind, enjoying the comfort of your accommodations as you prepare for the days ahead.

Day 5: Guided tour of Fes

 

Today, you will enjoy a full-day tour with a friendly local guide to explore the vibrant city of Fes. Known for its rich history and lively culture, Fes is one of Morocco’s most important cultural and religious centers, filled with historical and architectural treasures waiting to be discovered.

Start the day by visiting the grand gate of the Royal Palace. Then, step into the narrow streets of the old city, known as the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. While exploring the Medina, you will see landmarks such as Al-Qarawiyyin University, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, the Nejjarine Fountain, and the Chouara Tanneries, each showcasing stunning architecture and intricate details.

Next, visit the Jewish quarter, called the Mellah, and learn about the history of Fes’ Jewish community. Conclude the tour by climbing to an ancient fortress, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Medina and the entire city.

After a day of exploration, return to your riad to relax. This guided tour offers a deep immersion into the history, culture, and beauty of Fes, making for an unforgettable experience.

Day 6: Fes ⇢ Ifrane ⇢ Middle Atlas Mountains ⇢ Ziz Valley ⇢ Merzouga desert

 

After enjoying breakfast at your riad in Fes, prepare for an exciting journey to the magical Merzouga desert. We will travel south, stopping briefly in the charming city of Ifrane to relax and enjoy the scenic surroundings.

Continuing through the Middle Atlas Mountains, we will visit a cedar forest along the way, where you can observe Barbary apes in their natural habitat. Afterward, we’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant before heading to the Ziz Valley, known for its lush palm tree oases and stunning landscapes.

In the afternoon, we will arrive at the desert and begin an authentic camel ride across the mesmerizing sand dunes of Erg Chebbi. During the trek, we will pause to watch the sun set over the dunes, creating a truly unforgettable view. Afterward, we will reach our luxury desert camp.

At the camp, you will be shown to your private tent, complete with its own bathroom, where you can relax and freshen up. Dinner will be served, featuring local cuisine, followed by a cozy evening around the bonfire. Enjoy traditional Berber drumming and music, and even try your hand at playing the drums for a fun and immersive experience under the star-filled desert sky.

Day 7: Full day to explore the Merzouga desert

 

Today, wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes of Erg Chebbi. After breakfast, you can choose to continue your journey on a camel or travel by 4×4 vehicle back to Merzouga.

Your day of desert adventure begins with a visit to the small village of Khamlia, where you can experience the unique Gnawa music performed by locals who originally came from sub-Saharan Africa. It is a rare opportunity to enjoy a distinctive musical tradition.

Next, we will take an off-road drive to M’Fis, an abandoned village known for its Galena mines, which were once used to produce mascara. Exploring this area offers insight into its history and past mining activities.

Afterward, we will visit a nomadic family living near the Erg Chebbi dunes. You can enjoy a cup of tea with them in their traditional Berber tent and learn about their fascinating way of life and customs.

Following a delicious lunch, return to your riad to relax and enjoy the pool. In the late afternoon, you can opt for a quad biking or buggy adventure to watch the sunset, or take a peaceful walk to the dunes to experience the desert’s golden light. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner and spend the night in your comfortable riad.

Day 8: Merzouga desert ⇢ Rissani ⇢ Todra Gorge ⇢ Dades Gorge

 

After breakfast at your riad, we will set off toward the stunning Dades Gorge.

Along the way, you will have the chance to explore fascinating sights, including the traditional market in Rissani on market days (Sunday, Tuesday, or Thursday). Continue to the Todra Gorge, where a leisurely walk along the river allows you to admire the dramatic cliffs and breathtaking scenery.

As we travel toward the Dades Gorge, you will be captivated by the unique rock formations known as the “monkey fingers.” Drive through the scenic Dades Valley, taking in the panoramic views of the gorges, before arriving at your hotel for the night. Relax and unwind in your comfortable room and enjoy a peaceful overnight stay.

Day 9: Dades Gorge ⇢ Ouarzazate ⇢ Ait Ben Haddou ⇢ High Atlas Mountains ⇢ Marrakech

 

On the last day of your 9-day Morocco itinerary, we will drive toward Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa” and known as the “Gateway to the Desert.” Here, you will have the option to visit Atlas Studios, Morocco’s largest film studio, where you can explore famous movie sets and learn about the filmmaking process.

Next, we will continue to Ait Ben Haddou to explore its renowned Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This historic fortress has appeared in many films, including “Gladiator” and “Lawrence of Arabia.” Take your time to admire the detailed architecture and enjoy the beauty of this remarkable site.

After a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, we will travel over the High Atlas Mountains, stopping along the way to enjoy the stunning landscapes. In the late afternoon, we will arrive in Marrakech, marking the end of your 9-day journey from Casablanca with Morocco Fabulous Travel.
