On the first day of your 7-day tour from Tangier, we will pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port. Tangier, known as “the Bride of the North,” sits in the northwest where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic near Cape Spartel. We begin the day exploring the city, including visits to the Hercules Caves and Cape Spartel, with free time for lunch. In the afternoon, we drive inland to Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the Rif Mountains, with stops for scenic views along the way. Overnight stay in a hotel in Chefchaouen.
After breakfast, take some free time to explore the charming blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen. Later, we drive to Volubilis, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its well-preserved mosaics, columns, and arches. After touring the ancient ruins, we continue about 30 km to Meknes, the Ismaili capital and one of Morocco’s imperial cities, where we visit Bab al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani basin, the Royal Stables and granaries, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. In the evening, we drive to Fes for an overnight stay in a riad.
After breakfast, we will pick you up from your riad in Fes to begin a full-day exploration of one of Morocco’s most iconic imperial cities, the cultural and spiritual heart of the country.
The day begins with a driving tour, starting at the impressive Royal Palace Gate, followed by a visit to “The Mellah,” the historic Jewish Quarter. Next, enjoy panoramic views from the Borj Sud fortress overlooking the ancient Medina. We will also visit the Ceramic Village & School, where you can see traditional craftsmanship in action.
Afterward, embark on a walking tour through the medieval Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the best-preserved historic towns in the Arab world. With a knowledgeable local guide, explore highlights including the Al Attarine Madrasa, the University and Mosque of Al Quaraouiyine the oldest existing university in the world and the colorful Chouara Tanneries, where leather is dyed using centuries-old techniques. At the end of this immersive journey, return to your riad to relax and unwind.
After breakfast, the 7-day Sahara Morocco tour continues south through Imouzzer to visit Ifrane, known for its cool climate, winter snow, and alpine-style architecture earning it the nickname “the Switzerland of Morocco.” Next, we drive to the cedar forest, home to wild Barbary macaques, where you can enjoy a short walk among the ancient trees.
Afterward, continue to Midelt for free time at lunch, then cross the Tizi n’Talghamt Pass and drive through the scenic Ziz Valley, stopping at viewpoints along the way.
In the afternoon, arrive at the Sahara desert near Merzouga. Here, switch to camels and ride across the dunes, pausing atop a high dune to watch the sunset. Continue to your desert camp a mix of traditional nomad tents and modern comforts where you can enjoy Berber drumming around the campfire under a star-filled sky. Overnight at the desert camp.
After breakfast, spend the day exploring the Merzouga region, home to vast sand dunes, a seasonal lake, mines, fossil sites, and lush palm oases perfect for outdoor adventures. Begin with an off-road drive to an old kohl (eyeliner) mine, then visit local nomad families in their woven tents and learn about their way of life while enjoying a cup of Berber tea.
Next, head to Khamlia village to experience traditional Gnawa music and dance, performed by locals whose ancestry traces back to Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After free time for lunch, take a relaxing stroll through a nearby palm grove, then drive a short distance to Merzouga’s seasonal lake, often visited by flamingos. Return to Merzouga for dinner and overnight in a hotel.
Wake up early to witness the breathtaking sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, depart the desert for Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet and a bustling trading town with a lively souk on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Continue to Erfoud to visit a workshop specializing in fossilized marble.
Drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad to reach the Todra Gorges, where the river has carved a dramatic canyon with towering red cliffs favored by rock climbers. Enjoy free time to explore the gorge and have lunch. In the afternoon, continue to the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, making stops at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and a scenic viewpoint overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight in a hotel.
