Your 3-day journey from Errachidia to Fes begins with a pick-up by your driver from Sahara Camel Trips. You’ll be transferred directly to Merzouga, as most flights arriving at Moulay Ali Cherif Airport land at night. Overnight stay will be at a hotel in Merzouga.
After breakfast at your hotel, we’ll begin a 4×4 excursion to explore the fascinating sites around the Erg Chebbi dunes. Our first stop is Hassi Labied oasis, where you can see its irrigation canals and agricultural lands. We’ll then head south to the seasonal Sriji Lake (if it has water) and continue to Khamlia village, where you can enjoy the traditional Gnawa music performed by the descendants of sub-Saharan immigrants brought to Morocco centuries ago.
Next, we’ll visit the M’ifis mines, as Merzouga is also known for its minerals and fossils. During the tour, we’ll have the opportunity to visit a nomad Berber family still living in their traditional tent in the Sahara, sharing a glass of mint tea and learning about desert life. Along the way, we’ll stop at various panoramic viewpoints to take photos and enjoy the stunning desert scenery.
After lunch at a local restaurant, return to the village for a camel trek to reach our Berber camp in Merzouga. The ride lasts 1–1.5 hours, with a break atop the dunes to watch the sunset, try sandboarding, take photos, and soak in the views. Upon arrival at the camp, you’ll be welcomed with a glass of tea and time to relax before dinner. Afterward, enjoy traditional Berber drumming music under a star-filled sky and spend the night in a comfortable nomadic tent.
On the third day, start early to watch the sunrise over the dunes near the camp. After this magical moment, enjoy a delicious breakfast and take a shower at the camp. Then, ride the camels back to the original starting point, or transfer by 4×4 if you prefer.
From there, we continue towards Fes, traveling through the scenic Ziz Valley, Morocco’s second-longest river. Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains, where you can enjoy breathtaking panoramic views, and stop for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll make a stop at the Cedar Forest in Azrou to see the wild Barbary macaques and take a short walk through the forest for photos.
Next, we visit Ifrane, often called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco,” before continuing to Fes. You’ll arrive in the late afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel, marking the end of your 3-day Errachidia to Fes tour.
